CFTC Chair Hints At Major Crypto And DeFi Rule Changes Ahead
Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Mike Selig has unveiled an ambitious regulatory agenda targeting digital assets, decentralized finance (DeFi), and prediction markets. Speaking at the FIA Global Cleared Markets Conference in Boca Raton, Florida, Selig emphasized the need for clarity in event contracts—often tied to elections or macroeconomic outcomes—and announced forthcoming guidance from the CFTC.
The agency will also initiate a public rulemaking process to gather industry feedback. Selig, known for his policy expertise, highlighted improved coordination between the CFTC and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) through the 'Project Crypto initiative,' signaling an end to past regulatory turf wars.
